BUILDING BRIDGES

IN-PERSON EVENT POSTPONED

As the province of Ontario begins taking steps to open safely in this new stage of pandemic life, we remain committed to providing detailed updates on the progress of Building Bridges. It is our intention to proceed with our talks, workshops, and research presentations in the safest way possible. Our ‘new normal’ will require adjustments on all of our parts, and as directives emerge from the province, our associated health authorities, and the University of Toronto, we will adjust details regarding Building Bridges accordingly. To that end, please continue to visit our website and Twitter feed for details. We expect to make several decisions within the coming months with respect to the platform and delivery of our conference.

In the meantime, we have developed a series of online workshops to educate and maintain momentum for our in-person event. These online workshops will provide the building blocks for our main conference, and will place primary focus on the skills required for high-trauma or high-stress careers, including those in medicolegal disciplines.  A schedule of our online programming can be found below:

ABOUT THE EVENT /

BUILDING BRIDGES, A FULL-DAY CONFERENCE THROUGH THE UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO, HAS BEEN DESIGNED AS A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS AIMED TO FACILITATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR NETWORKING, COLLABORATION, AND EXCHANGE OF IDEAS BETWEEN GRADUATE STUDENTS AND MEDICOLEGAL PROFESSIONALS. STUDENTS FROM ALL ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES ARE WELCOME, PARTICULARLY THOSE STUDENTS AND EARLY CAREER PROFESSIONALS WITHIN THE FIELDS OF FORENSIC SCIENCE, LAW, MEDICINE, CRIMINOLOGY, AND POLICING.

 

CONFERENCE SESSIONS ARE FOCUSED ON THE INTRODUCTION AND DISCUSSION OF CONCEPTS SUCH AS STRESS, TRAUMA, AND RESILIENCY, BOTH IN BROAD ACADEMIC AND MEDICOLEGAL CAREER CONTEXTS. ATTENDEES WILL PARTAKE IN WORKSHOPS THAT ASSIST IN THE IDENTIFICATION, MANAGEMENT, AND POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF STRESS AND TRAUMA.
